September 2019 World Flags – Win £10
Each day in September a new flag will be displayed below. All you need to do is work out which country it represents. If you manage to answer correctly you will receive 2 entries into the draw. If you get the answer wrong you will receive 1 entry (just for giving it a try). All entries will be pooled at the end of the month and one winner drawn at random.
The competition started on 1st September 2019 and runs until the end of the month. The last question will be shown on 30th September 2019, with the winner being announced here on 1st October 2019. The winner will then have 24 hours to claim their £10 cash prize. If you don’t claim your prize by 11am on 2nd October you will unfortunately lose out. No late claims accepted.
Well done Tracey!
Some of them were hard! Great challenge Daniel, thank you 😀
Good luck everyone.
I wouldn’t have thought today’s would be very popular given the current travel situation, since it’s named after a certain someone.
Oh yeah, I see what you mean. Lol
🦋Thoroughly enjoyed this months Flags of the World game👍🏼, looking forward to seeing what tomorrow’s new game is !!🙌🏼 good luck everyone !!🤞🍀😀🦋
Agreed, have really enjoyed this one. A thought for a future game would be outlines of different countries – I do love a good geography quiz!
I agree, its been very interesting and knowledgeable.
Is today’s (30 Sept) actually a country?
Has a national flag
I would have thought not, but according to Wikipedia – not always reliable, I know, the entity in question “is a self-governing … country….”
(I have had to remove most of the detail from my original reply, because I gave the game away – or gave so many clues that it would have been hard not to deduce the answer.)
So, as I was saying, according to Wikipedia, “The Cook Islands is a self-governing island country in the South Pacific Ocean in free association with New Zealand.”
Does that mean it has the same status as the Isle of Man, which is certainly self-governing and an island ‘nation’ and in free association with the UK?
Surely yesterdays flag was Barbados
Hi Susan. Yes, this was an update error and has since been corrected. Good Luck, Daniel
25 and 26 both India – don’t think so !!!
I agree that is so wrong. Hope they sort it out
One of them was Barbados – but I cannot remember which. (They have all merged into one ‘flag of all nations slideshow’ in my mind.)
EDIT: From Elsee’s comment below, I deduce that the land of Rihanna’s birth was 26. (Apart from numerous West Indies cricketers, Ms Fenty is the only famous Barbadian who comes to mind.)
🦋Mark, Barbados was the 26th and India was indeed the 25th.😀🦋
Thanks – This was an update error and has been corrected. Good Luck, Daniel
Nice flag. The trident makes a change from stars, crosses, moon and sun.
Today’s is deceptive. Another country’s flag is very similar.
Easy flag today! Good Luck to the All Blacks on Saturday 🏈🏆
HI DID ANYONE ELSE GET LOWER AUSTRIA FOR 17 OR WAS IT JUST ME AS IT IS THE SAME FLAG.
No. Not me, but then I used my flag map not Google.
Lower Austria is not a country.
From the preamble: “All you need to do is work out which COUNTRY [the flag] represents.” (my emphasis)
Anyway, dropping one ‘point’ – and getting 59 entries in the month-end draw rather than 60 – is unlikely to make much of a difference.
I didn’t Tracy and I GOOGLED the answer !,🤷🏻♀️
Hi Tracy, confusing as bands of colour are the same, but Lower Austria Flag has a coat of arms in the middle, which Ukraine hasn’t.
not on the one i saw, i just rechecked. i am now using a different flag database.
No, I have been googling most, not very good with flags.
me neither and some of the sites are confusing as some list all the flags not just country flags
I have to admit to using Google a few times. Many flags have changed since I was at school.
🦋Some people might call it cheating but hey !🤷🏻♀️, I’ve had to use google for a couple of answers to these flags, I’m nothing if not honest !😂 thoroughly enjoying this game though, making me work my grey matter harder than ever !🤯 Wonder how many others will admit to using either google or some other aid ( book of flags of the world etc ) to help them ??🤔Honesty is the best policy 😂Good luck guys !!☺️🍀🤞🦋
I will be honest too. I have used google for a couple of the answers this month.
Some of them i’ve known, but the Daily Mail had a supplement of a map of the world with flags at the beginning of the month – good timing!
🦋Gillian, allicat, there’s no problem admitting using an aid to find out the answers if you can’t think of them or don’t know them👍🏼😀, I think there is a lot more people who do it but don’t want to admit to it either !! Why ? I don’t know🤔🤷🏻♀️😂. It’s not as if it’s something to be embarrassed about either, alas my knowledge of world flags is somewhat limited and I don’t see why I should pretend otherwise🤷🏻♀️. Good luck to you both !!🤞🍀😀🦋
Did it also have a section on how to insult people from those countries?
I’m absolutely hopeless, I’ve had to Google nearly all of them 😳 hoping some of them stick in my mind after this month!
Some of these countries didn’t even exist when I was at school and I always muddle the Scandinavian ones up so I’ve been making great use of the MOS free flag map.
First time today. I think I’ve done well to get to the 18th Sept without Goggles help
It’s not cheating, it’s learning!
I’ve used Google for most of the flags! Geography was never my best subject.
First one I’ve had to put some thought into. I knew it was African and got their in the end
same flag as yesterday??
Owww, this flag messes with your eyes lol.
I’ve known them all without having to look it up so far. I’m astounded by my flag knowledge not really sure where it is coming from
Daniel, I am assuming this is a 3 colour flag as white doesn’t show up against the white background?
Hi Janice. Yes, that is correct. I’ve put a border around it to make it a bit clearer. Good Luck, Daniel.
The answer for the third flag is listed as “USA / America”; I wonder if that means I was marked wrong for putting “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”
Hi Mark. USA is just an abbreviation. As long as you have the answer correct it is marked as correct – Don’t worry. Good Luck, Daniel
Thanks for the reply.
Of course, had I bothered to scroll down a bit further, I would have found that my question had already been asked (and answered). [OOPS!]
I hope we are allowing United States of America as well as the the USA.
Hi Stuart. USA is just an abbreviation. As long as you have the answer correct it is marked as correct – Don’t worry. Good Luck, Daniel
I won’t need to Google this month as free with today’s Mail on Sunday was a poster showing world map with country flags
Off to open the magazine section to find it 🙂
Just opened mine.
I like the idea of this one.
