The 31 Day August Quiz Challenge
This month I have decided to run a quiz. Some of the questions you may know the answer to immediately, others you may need to go searching to find the answer to the question. Each day in August a new question will be displayed below. If you manage to answer a question correctly you will receive 2 entries into the draw. If you get the question wrong you will receive 1 entry (just for giving it a try). All entries will be pooled at the end of the month and one winner drawn at random.
The competition started on 1st August 2017 and runs until the end of the month. The last question will be shown on 31st August 2017, with the winner being announced here on 1st September. The winner will then have 24 hours to claim their £10 cash prize.
Are there plans to repeat the quiz?
Definitely. We have the anagram game running at the moment but the quiz will definitely be returning at some point. Good luck. Daniel
Thanks for my quiz win! Hopefully the claim went through ok as it’s still saying “not yet claimed” but I definitely went through everything, just let me know if I have to do it again or anything. 🙂 Definite bonus as I’m recovering from a throat infection right now so been getting knocked out by antibiotics this week. 🙁
Congratulations Susie. hope you feel better soon. 😊
Hi Susie. Yes, all registered and paid out – You should hopefully have received the payment already. Hope you have a quick recovery too. All the best, Daniel.
Yup received, thanks so much for sending it so quickly! 🙂
No problem. Enjoy! Daniel
It’s going into our wedding fund, just over 8 months to the big day so every penny counts! Shared on my FB as well so hopefully will see some familiar faces joining me here soon too. 🙂
Congratulations! – Between now and then you might win some more! Thanks for sharing on Facebook. Any publicity is good as it should increase visitors and in turn increase the funds available for prizes. Thank you so much, Daniel.
Congratulation Suzie 🎉- Enjoy spending it.😀
🦋I’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting the old grey matter working a bit harder for the Quiz answers. Thank you Daniel for such an enjoyable game👍🏼👏🏼😀 looking forward to the new competition.😀🦋
Thanks Maggie. I’m glad you enjoyed it. The new game starting tomorrow is something completely different. I really hope you like that one too. A new quiz will be returning at a later date. Daniel.
Loved the quiz Daniel, looking forward to the next one.
Thanks Santamaria. The new competition starting tomorrow is something completely different which I hope everyone will like, but a quiz will definitely return in the next few months. Daniel
Thanks for a great quiz Daniel, hope there’ll be another one soon 🙂
Thanks Jo. I’m very glad you enjoyed it. I’ll definitely be continuing with a new quiz in the future. Remember to check back tomorrow to see if you are the winner. Good Luck, Daniel.
Thanks for the fun Daniel. Learned a thing or three too! 😀
Thanks Jane. I think we all did a bit with the quiz! Don’t forget to check back tomorrow to see if you are the winner. Look out for a new game starting soon…. Good Luck, Daniel
Just posted my final answer to a great quiz. Thank you Daniel. Good luck to all the entrants. 😊
Thanks Susan. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Don’t forget to check back tomorrow to see if you are the winner. Look out for a new game starting soon…. Good Luck, Daniel
I think the pastry one has more than one answer also! 🙂
I can confirm that there is more than one possible correct answer for this. You just need to give (at least) one of them. Good Luck, Daniel
Another tricky question today – the name of the Island in 1892, it’s later name or the one it is currently commonly known as? I think I have covered all bases in my entry anyway, lol
Hi Ruskin. Definitely only one possible answer to today’s question. The different names of the island was prior to 1890. The other two islands you mentioned in your answer are for a different island (but close by). This other island wasn’t used for processing immigrants. You have however put the correct answer in as part of your answer so you are all good! Good Luck, Daniel.
Is today’s question looking for the year it was first introduced to financial markets or the year Euro notes and coins entered circulation?
Hi. It is when the Euro (as a currency) was introduced. It came into existence introduced at first in its electronic form – for bank transfers, banking, travellers cheques and ran alongside the old currency. This is the year we are looking for. Thanks, Daniel.
Thanks!
No problem at all. Good Luck! Daniel
Wish I’d seen this yesterday, thought the question meant when it was the physical currency which was 2002. 🙁
Takes me back, loved it back then! (Question 26)
Tempted to answer today that it is a totally fictional place (plaice?) but I assume you mean what is the name of it 😉
what? you don’t know it? lol! It intersects with Coral Avenue,a road leadsfrom Atlantis to Bikini Bottom! Pop in for a Krabby Patty at the ‘Krusty Krab!😉😉😉😯😯!!
I actually didn’t without cheating via Google (I & my kids are too old, lol) but the question asks what it is – not what it’s name is 🙂
sad as it seems I do actually watch it!!😕not religiously but if it’s on!lol!
🦋 Daniel, as Susan so rightly says there were 3 actresses for #24 but the question doesn’t say whether it is the 1st, 2nd or 3rd actress so I’ve put the “adult” actress and the other 2 actresses I’ve named in brackets as I’m making sure I’ve covered all my bases.😉😂😂🦋
Hi Maggie. The one I was looking for was the actress who voiced her as an adult. I will accept the other possible answers too though 😉 You are keeping me on my toes! Good Luck, Daniel
There were 3 actresses who voiced her. I how the one I chose was when Anna was an adult.
🦋 You’re absolutely right Susan and I think/hope/pray that Daniel is asking about the adult version but as I wasn’t too sure I also named the other 2 in brackets to cover myself but no doubt Daniel will tell us which one he wanted😂😂Good Luck🍀🤞😀🦋
Hi Susan. The one I was looking for was the actress who voiced her as an adult. I will accept the other possible answers too though 😉 You are keeping me on my toes! Good Luck, Daniel
🦋 I’d never live it down if I got todays answer ( #22 ) wrong as it’s where I was born😉😂😂🦋
Hi Maggie. I’m sure you will have got this one right then Maggie. Good Luck! Daniel 🙂
I got it wrong oops lol
Don’t worry Graham, there are still a few more days left to get the rest of the questions correct 🙂 Daniel
Was born there too! 🙂
Hi Daniel, the city now known as New York was named Nouvelle (New) Angouleme in the early 16th century, & not re-named New Amsterdam until the early 17th century.
Sorry, just re-read the question & note that it says ‘former’ not original name!!
No worries! Good Luck, Daniel.
Hi Daniel, I’m enjoying this competition, thanks; I think you’ve forgotten to post the answer to yesterday’s question.
Hi Jo. I’m glad you are enjoying this competition. Well spotted about the missing answer. This has now been corrected. Thanks, Daniel
There seems to be some dispute about where soda bread originated but the majority of reputable sites say it was in with the Native Americans
Thanks Ruskin! – You are indeed correct. I will get this corrected on the site shortly. Thanks, Daniel.
Woohoo! Thanks for being willing to be corrected, Debbi, aka Kiji Kitehi/Great Heart, the name given to me by Shawnee Tribal Chief 🙂
No problem at all. Good Luck! Daniel
Soda bread originated in the USA in 1796.
In Europe it appeared in the mid 19th century
Thanks Stuart! – You are indeed correct. Despite only around 5% of entries giving the answer of USA or America after further research I can confirm that this is indeed the correct answer and Ireland was incorrect (like myself and most other people thought). I will get this corrected on the site shortly. Thanks, Daniel.
I see that you give Elvis Presley’s middle name as ‘Aaron’.According to my ‘reference books, hiis name is spelt ‘Aron’.I remember thinking it a weird way to spell it when I firsst came across it as a teenager.
Hi Veronica. According to the Official Elvis Presley website (http://www.elvis.com/about/bio) it is spelt Aaron, although I will accept both spellings as the correct answer. There seems to be some debate on this (see http://www.elvis-express.com/elvisradio_articles_aaron.html) Thanks, Daniel.
joke- why have elephants got big ears?
I don’t know Philip, but I have a feeling this is another Noddy joke ?? Daniel
🦋’cos Noddy wouldn’t pay the ransom ? 😂😂🦋
🦋JOKE :- What happens if Whoopi Goldberg marries Peter Cushing ?
Maggie – I don’t know ? What happens ? Daniel.
🦋 You get a Whoopi Cushion (Cushing) 😂😂🦋
That is a good one! – Much better than the Noddy joke 😉 Daniel
Tricky on so many levels, lol
Aha, just spotted the clue in the question!!!! Silly me. Our teachers always used to say “Make sure you read the question properly”
Hi Elsee – Yes, always read and double check questions 😉 Daniel
Is number 6 a trick question? There are 2 possible answers, the true one and the one we all assume, hmmm, I’ve gone with the true one, I’ll still get a point if it’s wrong:)
Hi Elsee. As you say on your second message always read the question properly 🙂 – No trick question, there is only one correct answer! Thanks, Daniel.
i googled the Google question (😯) and it said the name google was launched in 1997?? September 15th!? incorporated on September 4th 1998 for business! so which is right ? lol?
Hi Julie. Although the domain name was registered in 1997, the company wasn’t founded (incorporated) until 4th September 1998. It was ‘launched on the web’ in 1998. Thanks, Daniel.
Why did Mr Plod call Noddy’s friend “Aurally Blessed”? Because he was actually PC 🙂 I just made that up ‘specially for you, lol
lol – Good one! Thanks, Daniel
🦋 FBL Daniel, my son has come up with this clean Noddy joke ! 🙂…….Why did Noddy drop his Ice cream ? 😳🦋
I don’t know, Why did Noddy drop his ice cream ?
🦋 Because he got run over by a bus ! 😂😂🦋
Mmm… lol ! Not bad ! 🙂
lmao
Hello
I believe the correct answer is actually Mr Plod, not PC Plod
Hi Stella. The character was indeed originally known as Mr Plod. In later adaptations he was also known as both PC Plod and Officer Plod. All of which are accepted as correct answers for the quiz. Thanks, Daniel.
Are you limited to only one entry per person?
Hi David. Yes, one entry per day. The first entry is what counts. You still get 1 entry into the draw if you get the answer wrong, but 2 entries into the draw if you get it right. Thanks, Daniel
🦋Free Birthdate Lottery, I have sent 2 entry forms for today’s #1 Quiz Challenge answer as the policemans name was originally something that changed to something else 😉 so I wasn’t sure which name you were using so sent both in, I’ll leave it up to you which one to use. Loving the new quiz already !! 👍🏼😀🦋
Thanks Maggie – Both of your answers are fine, but it is just the first answer that counts. Daniel.
I haven’t been shown the picture to answer the Noddy question
I don’t think there’s supposed to be one with this quiz, we just need to answer the question(s)
Ruskin is correct. There are no pictures for this. It is purely a quiz. You will be given a new question each day until the end of August. Thanks, Daniel.
Why have Elephants got Big Ears? Because Noddy wouldn’t pay the ransom hahaha heehee hoho
Love it! – Can we come up with anymore Noddy jokes (without giving away the answer) ?
🦋FBL, Daniel, I know a joke but it’s a bit duuuurrrrttttyyyy !! 😉😱😂🦋
Clean jokes only please…. lol Daniel.
🦋 I’ll have to ask my baby boy then 😂😂he’s 20 but still my baby boy. 😉😊😂😂🦋
Hi Maggie, please message me with the dirty joke! Thanks x
