I seem to have missed quite a few this month 😣 (also needing to catching up on the comments before the next one starts – hence the slight barrage of replies & posts, sorry! 😏), particularly the food ones for some strange reason – but now having seen all the comments about the ‘turkey’ (+🍊🍊⁉️), the ‘roast’ potatoes & then the rosemary garnishing the Christmas pudding 🤯😆, I went back up and looked at the clue pictures… …& couldn’t agree more with everything said! Daniel, hope you don’t mind me asking, but is this your usual Xmas dinner..?!? Ooo, you… Read more »

I put Santa Claws for 27, doh 🤦🏻‍♀️ wonder if it might be allowed 2 points though…after all, dogs do have both! Mine just doesn’t sound quite as friendly 🐶🐾❣️

Sally
Member
Sally

I couldn’t think of a thing for the first one (hmmm, where’s a dunce emoji when you need one? 🤔🤪🤭) – so I just put:
“I don’t know… what kind of pictures DO elves take?”.

Ok, so i can’t imagine I’ll get two points for that one lol – I do still think it’s *technically* the correct answer though; especially if it’s a child reading the clue, don’t spoil it! 😜

Though perhaps it’s Bob reading it lol – in that case, I have no idea what age he is; hard to tell with 🐧s anyway, but especially the cartoon type! 🤣

Yes, I did get yesterday’s wrong. It was a tossup between Brighton and Plymouth for my answer. I wonder how many got it right lol.

Marie

My first thought 🤔was Tobamory but decided to plump for Venice, I knew I would still get a point just for guessing🙂

Aileen

My first thought was Bergen, then I moved to Vienna and Amsterdam but final inspiration was Copenhagen and I found a photo on Google that was very similar so Copenhagen it was!

Copenhagen for me too

Blimey, you all seem ever so well-travelled/knowledgeable! 👏👍

Sadly, I can’t say the same 🙁 I didn’t even attempt to look this one up, just saw a canal & put Venice! Who knew it resembled so many other places (inc. the correct one!)? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Well actually, most of you it seems lol – just not me 🤦🏻‍♀️😣🤣

Justin
Member

I thought it was familiar from what I’ve seen of the place in the past.. so I put Venice. I had a feeling I get it wrong, I did duckduckgo Images and found an image very very similar so I went Venice. Hope everyone had a pleasant Christmas Day whether you celebrate it or not. And i’am enjoying this game. 👍

Hope you all had a good one, or at least not a bad one. Relaxing today. Did most of the washing up and tidying up yesterday; the rest can wait!
I’ve made up an answer to the riddle, it will be interesting to see what the right answer is!

It took me a while to remember that there’s at least one more option for the first. After ‘You’ and ‘My Two Front Teeth’, there is of course ‘A Dukla Prague Away Kit’.
Anyway, Merry Christmas to you all. I hope your gifts are as happily given as they are received, your turkeys aren’t dry and the batteries all came included.
If Christmas isn’t your bag, then I wish you the happiest nearest equivalent.
Here’s to a happy new year!

“I hope your gifts are as happily given as they are received, your turkeys aren’t dry and the batteries all came included” – love this 😂 think I might borrow it for next year (or late Xmas cards this year!), hope you don’t mind 😉

That’s odd, I had replied to this post but it seems to have now disappeared… 🤔

There was nothing I can possibly imagine would be controversial in it lol, so it seems unlikely it was deliberately removed 😆 but for some strange reason it’s just vanished! Bit weird

I went from all the Merry Christmas wishes to “with rosemary”, all I can say to you Pat is you are a wonderful person to ensure Rosemary was not alone this Christmas. 🤣

I put chicken as didn’t look like a turkey. And the answer is turkey. I’ve never seen many turkeys that look like that in size.

Hilde

It had oranges around it and looked like a chicken so I put duck a l’orange.

i guess the ‘traditional’ festive one?!…

Alison
Member
Alison

It looks a bit small to be the festive one, but the other isn’t festive, could it be the one Scrooge sent for? It’s too small for that too, I think.

Decisions, decisions.

Hilde
Member

Why would it be the traditional festive one if it’s clearly a well known dish. The ingredients are in the name.

Jackie
Member
Jackie

I nearly put in chicken, it didn’t look very big!

Heather10
Member

I Google lens it because of that very reason and it’s the other one not the traditional one as found an image the same, however I think both answers should be accepted

Khadija
Member
Khadija

I put both as it didn’t look as big as the festive one. Also I put roast before it too. Hopefully it will be acceptable.

Justin
Member
Justin

I also put roast chicken and looked nothing like turkey.

If today’s food item is what I think it is, I’ll give it a miss. I love them but those look rank.

Paul

I put potatoes because I was stumped, I couldn’t think of anything else but they didn’t look like any potatoes that I’ve ever eaten.

Alison
Member
Alison

They looked much too small and I like them a bit burnt and crispy.

Aileen
Member

I put roast potatoes in their jackets because they were, basically, new potatoes that had been cut in half and roasted with a bit of parsley sprinkled on top. Certainly not what most of us would serve as roast potatoes 🤣

GillP
Member
GillP

I just put potatoes as they did not look like any roasties I have ever seen.

tracy

tracy

Me neither, they looked like boiled potatoes with butter melted on them and herbs sprinkled on them.

tracy

tracy

Yes I like mine crispy and a bit black, I love them roasted with a joint of beef as the flavour is just so nice.

Yesterday’s clue said to name the festive food game. There’s a game called mince spies, so I put that. I know it showed mince pies but because it said game, I put the name of the game.
Can the clues be a bit more clearer or just have a picture so we know exactly what is being asked.
Don’t know if anyone else has put the name of the game?

Aileen
Member
Aileen

I can understand why you were confused but ‘The festive food game’ is only the title of this particular quiz within a quiz – where the answer is a type of food. So Pigs in Blankets on 3 December was also called ‘The festive food game’ but days 1 and 6 were called ‘finish the song lyric’ and day 2 was ‘name the movie’. At least you get one point for an incorrect answer

Khadija
Member
Khadija

Thanks. I know to go with the food now and not to look too deeply into the clue.

Hope everyone in a Red Weather Warning area keeps safe. Please Make sure you have candles, flashlights, & mobile phones are all fully charged, just in case the power goes off! If you need to report a power cut, do not call your energy supplier, instead call 105. Plus if you need a little extra help call your energy supplier and ask to be added to the The Priority Services Register (PSR).

(Its also a good idea to have a corded landland on hand too. But no idea how many people have these anymore! Haha)

Alison
Member

Great advice Troye, we have a corded land line 😁 we have made sure our elderly relatives have them too, you can pick them up quite cheaply these days. Head torches are a great thing to have as well, sort out spare batteries just in case, tie down garden objects or put them away and most importantly if you have small pets, ensure you have a carrier to hand so you can evacuate them quickly, if pets live outside make sure their home is secure and warm. We are not in a red warning, but are always ready if things… Read more »

Wouldn’t describe it as a High Street Brand 🤔🤔

Hilde

I agree. I thought high street brand was the name of a business like a shop, not a product.

Troye

I think i put Tesco (aka just pick a high street brand), and today i put Paris (aka pick a place someone could visit for the festive season). Looking forward to when we are getting anagram back again, lol. This month I’ve accepted i won’t get 2 entries, but only 1 per day. I’m cool with it, it does not cost me anything to check 🙂

Aileen

At my age, the only ending to All I want for Christmas is – my two front teeth (which tempted a few other people I see below). There have been several famous singers and one version has even been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. As you only asked us to finish the lyric, will you accept both answers, Daniel?

Alison

I had not thought of that one and have not classed myself as a young, whippersnapper in quite a while.

Thanks Aileen for the best Christmas present you could have given me. 🤣
