October 2019 – Quiz – Win £10

This month we are having a quiz. Each day in October a different question will be displayed below. You just need to answer the question. If you manage to answer a question correctly you will receive 2 entries into the draw. If you manage to guess the answer correctly you will receive 2 entries into the draw. If you get it wrong you will receive 1 entry (just for giving it a try). All entries will be pooled at the end of the month and one winner drawn at random.

The competition started on 1st October 2019 and runs until the end of the month. The last question will be shown on 31st October 2019, with the winner being announced here on 1st November 2019. The winner will then have 24 hours to claim their £10 cash prize. If you don’t claim your prize by 11am on 2nd November you will unfortunately lose out. No late claims accepted.

Congratulations lemonpiez on your win

Thank you!

I only had to resort to Google twice this month (although I also checked four others before submitting my answers, just to make sure that my educated guesses, and vague recollections, were indeed correct).

Many congratulations to anyone who has managed 31/31 unaided.

🦋Well done Mark !!, I had to use Google three and a half times this month !! The half time one was just to confirm my answer was right before I submitted it, which it was !! There’s no shame in admitting having to use Google or indeed any other kind of knowledge confirmation, after all, that’s what these things are for !!😂 Good luck to you and everyone else !!🤞😀🦋

That’s a new one on me. Had to Google it.

I went to clear yesterday’s answer but it entered instead! I’ve no idea why, when I refresh the page, the previous day’s answer always shows.

“One and a half litres of champagne is known as a what ?” ~ not enough!!

Guest

I somehow don’t think that “a good breakfast” is going to be the correct answer today (the champagne question)….

Guest

I was unable to do question 19, as it kept coming up as question 18, so was not able to answer

See Daniels reply further down, he has said he will give points as not updated properly.

Hi, Apologies for the issue with today’s not updating. This should be resolved later today. However, as it has been like this all day I can confirm that anyone who submits any answer today will be rewarded with full points. There is no need to answer again when the issue has been resolved. Good luck, Daniel.

Typo today?

Yesterdays question was same as the day before. I answered it correctly so do I still get the point even though it hadn’t updated?

Member
Wendy

See Daniels reply further down, he has said he will give points as not updated properly.

🦋Today’s question is misspelt, it should be Aurora rather than Auora 😎, do I get an extra point for this ??😂🦋

Member
Lucy

Sunday’s question should read ‘Aurora Borealis’, not Auora Borealis. It may be pedantic but I’m in a picky mood today. 😉 I wasn’t able to see yesterday’s question either.

Guest

yesterdays question was not updated so could not answer it

Member
Wendy

See Daniels reply further down, he explains.

Member
Christine Carter

Like others on here I couldn’t answer yesterdays question as site didn’t update before I went to bed. Will we get a point or will yesterdays question be made void?

Member
Paula

Same here I didn’t answer either cause it was the same question as the day before 🙁

Member
Daniel

Look down a bit, they’ve said a few times to put any answer and you’d get full points.

Member
ColinR

Thank you for the update Daniel. A lot of players were ‘stuck in limbo’ with the question not updating. Great to hear that it has been resolved.

Member
Andrew

Gave the same answer as yesterday, hope this still counts as two entries?

Member
Wendy

Im thinking of doing this too.

5:20pm Saturday and still showing Fridays question 🤔😕

Member
Wendy

Daniel, can you please update the question, its the same as fridays 🙂

Member
hornetcarp

same question as yesterday!

Member
Chris

This seems to be happening a fair bit of late.

Member
Phil

Not the same question – they haven’t updated yet, so it’s still Friday.

Member
Sally

Phil – it’s supposed to update at 11am 😉

Member
Phil

You know that. I know that. Presumably the organisers know that as well, it’s just the computer that seems to have forgotten.

Member
Andy

There are actually two square roots of 25!

Member
Daniel

You are technically correct. The best kind of correct.

Member
Elsee

I’ll be interested to see your explanation later.

Guest

Are you disputing the existence of two [square] roots?
They are (+)5 and -5.

Multiplying two negative numbers gives a positive number, so (-5)x(-5)=25 just as 5×5=25.

Member
Andy

Correct!

Member
Elsee

No, just giving you the opportunity to explain.

Member

Will Korea be accepted rather than North Korea?

Member
Maggie

🦋Heather10, I think you’d have had to be more specific as you have both North and South Korea and a woman is the leader of South Korea, either way you still get 1 point because you put an answer. Good luck !😀🦋

Member
Heather10

Should have googled it lol

Member
allicat

I put North and caught the enter key by mistake. At least I get the 1 point for entering even if it was wrong!!
